Super-Indy!

Since I will probably never make it to a Superbowl game, I wanted to go check out the festivities around Indianapolis. In retrospect, we should have gone earlier in the week, but with work and the drive, we ended up waiting until Friday night. We started out trying to pay $20 for parking, but the lot was full. Then we drove 3 blocks and found free parking!! Lucky thing #1!

Though you can't tell who is in this SUV, the answer is Adam Sandler! Whoa!

The area wasn't too bad when we first got there at about 5pm, but it just got progressively worse as the evening went on. At the end we couldn't get the stroller through and folded it up and carried it. We finally headed to Circle Center Mall and got a bite to eat in the food court. People were eating on the floor, but we got lucky and a guy offered us his table because Lee was wearing a Purdue shirt! Lucky again!

It was cool to see the city all spiffed up for the Superbowl. We even managed to run into some friends, which, given the crowds was nothing short of a miracle. Though I think we walked about 7 miles and it was crowded, it was worth the trip!

And the butter on the bread is that the Patriots lost!

Congratulations

As the final seconds ticked off the clock last night, I realized I was far less disappointed than I expected I would be. Especially when they kept showing Drew Brees and his cute little son. Drew looked like he was about to cry. It was a pretty touching moment.

The Colts had a good start, but they just couldn't keep it going. I think that all the people on ESPN acting like this is such a scar on Peyton Manning's career are idiots though. I mean, he still made it to the SUPERBOWL. Come on. Give the guy a break!

One Colt that I am none too happy with today is Garcon. It seems like everytime I heard his name last night it was followed by "...drops a pass."

I'm very sad that football season is over... I just have to put my focus on Boilermaker basketball now!

SUPERbowl

*
2007: The Colts play the Bears in the Superbowl. As a Colts fan living in Chicago, this matchup was pretty much a dream come true. Most my family and friends from Lafayette are either Colts fans or Bears fans since Lafayette is pretty much smack dab in the middle of Chicago and Indy. I was ALL FOR the Colts though. I was just glad that if they were to lose, it would be to my 2nd favorite NFL team.

2010: ALL SEASON folks around here have been all atwitter about Drew Breeeeees (who dat?) and the possibility of a Saints-Colts matchup in the Superbowl. For it to finally be a reality is SO awesome! Another dream come true for a Boilermaker Colts fan.

My cup overfloweth.

Make no mistake though. I will be cheering for Drew Brees to have an amazing game... But I don't think I can cheer for him to win. My brother-in-law is just the opposite. He wants Brees to have a Superbowl win under his belt, especially since the Colts just got one 3 years ago.

At the end of the day, I'll be happy for the winner and a little sad for the loser. I just hope it doesn't turn into a game with TWO Purdue quarterbacks playing... Let's keep Curtis Painter on the bench!

SUPERBOWL BOUND!

I LOVE YOU COLTS!
Now to see who we play in the big game... I'm cheering for Drew Breeeeeeeees, of course! (But, I won't be too devastated if Favre makes it. I like him.)

The end of an era...

Go to the site below to watch the RCA Dome in Indianapolis deflate. It's about as exciting as watching paint dry, but for some reason I'm still watching it. I remember attending many a High School Final Four basketball games at the Dome. Back before Indiana went to lame-o class basketball.
Fortunately, the Colts have a nice new stadium to play in now! (However it doesn't seem to be helping them play well...)

Colts... Bummer.

So, the Colts just didn't want it bad enough yesterday. It was a disappointing game. Especially since Lee slept through the whole 2nd half. I had to go through that emotional rollercoaster alone! He woke up a few times to me yelling cuss words, but that was about it. They had two chances to win there at the end and they just pissed it down their leg. On to next season. I'm over it.

Now, I am just cheering for whoever plays the Patriots. If you haven't noticed, I am NOT a big fan.

SO FRUSTRATED!!!

Chargers - 23
Colts - 21

Ok, so probably everyone heard about or watched the Colt's loss last night. Horrible. The score makes it look better than it actually was. The blame goes across the team, though, in my opinion:

The special teams. Allowing Sproles to return one kickoff and one punt for touchdowns. He did look like a speeding little bullet, but come on. Stop that guy!

Peyton... Peyton... Peyton... I hate it when I see him throw a couple interceptions because it seems to mean there are a couple more right around the corner. He gets discouraged and it is hard for him to get back on track. Last night is painful proof of that. SIX interecptions.

Vinitieri missing two field goals. One of them was only a 29-yard field goal!!

I know that there are a lot of excuses that can be thrown around about injuries and whatnot, but I just want to see them get back on track FAST. They are a better team than this.

"We don't use injuries as an excuse, but we still had a chance to win the game," Manning said. "We have no choice but to refocus. … To lose two in a row is disappointing. Getting a win is the best remedy for a two-game losing streak."
