August 8th

Next weekend we're going to DC's Country Junction in Lowell, IN. If anyone is interested in joining us, feel free to come on down!

We're planning to go right when it opens because Jamie's boyfriend Garret wants to be there for the line dancing lessons. I'm down with that since I will probably be drunk as heck* and ready for bed at midnight!

*Friday night I had 3 Bud Lights and was totally drunk. It was awesome! I haven't been this cheap of a date since high school!

How did I not hear about this before TODAY?

MERLE HAGGARD is going to be right up the road from us at DC's Country Junction tonight. Tickets are still available. They must not have advertised this well because I listen to all the country stations around here and this is the first I've heard of it!!! If Lee didn't have econ class tonight, I would totally be going. {frown}

Jamie & Garret Visit DeMotte!

Yesterday evening Jamie & her boyfriend Garret came up to DeMotte to visit. Have I mentioned that I'm really pumped that Jamie is living just an hour away from me down in Lafayette? After having some Pizza Hut pizza... YUM. We headed off to DC's Country Junction. DC's had been majorly talked up by various people, so I was really hoping it would live up to the hype! Fortunately, during the day on Saturday I had driven up there to see where it is. Thank goodness I did. It was definitely out in the boondocks!
Here is Jamie & Garret @ DC's. And me & Jamie enjoying our BIG beers! None of us thought places like this really existed! It's incredible.
Garret was nice and watched our purses AND got drinks at the same time. What a guy!
DC's definitely lived up to the hype. It is basically just a big pole barn. There is a stage at the front, a dance floor, and a bunch of picnic tables. There are some huge grills where you can grill your meat. There was a TON of people linedancing. And a lot tight jeans (on dudes)! Most the girls were wearing short shorts and cowboy boots or short denim skirts and cowboy boots. I didn't know that was the uniform. The only bad thing is that you have to buy tokens to then buy beers. We think the drinks were $5 apiece, but the beers were HUGE! I like it! Jamie & I attempted some linedances. We're not very good! Anyway, we both wished that we had known about this place when we lived down in Lafayette. We would have totally made the trip up here. We definitely plan to come back. Hopefully we can even make the John Anderson or Joe Diffie concerts!

DC's closed at 1am and we headed back towards DeMotte. We decided to stop and check out Bozley's, a bar I had heard about over in Roselawn. Bozley's was pretty cool. I'm so glad we did! The place was cool. Good music & good people. I can't wait to go back more! I also ended up meeting some people! Maybe I'll find some friends around here!

Thanks to Garret & Jamie for coming up to visit. I can't wait for many more visits to come!!
