Road Trip for Jay!

A week ago, our family made our first road trip down to Cleveland, TN, for Lee's friend Jay's wedding.  When we planned the trip, it seemed like Cole would be a lot older than reality.  When it came time to go and he wasn't even 3 weeks old, it seemed a little overwhelming.  But, we pulled it off and had a successful little trip!  Both kids were angels on the 9 hour drive.  Cole slept the whole way and Taryn watched multiple DVD's, napped and chilled.
The theme for the weekend was that Cole slept through everything.  Here Lee and Taryn are taking advantage of the hotel's pool...  While Cole slept

Here we are at the church waiting for the wedding to start...  And Cole is sleeping!
Taryn was IN LOVE with Jay's wife, Meagan.  It goes along with the princess obsession, I think.  At one point I told Meagan I would understand if she took a restraining order out on Taryn.  She was rather stalker-ish.  Later in the evening Taryn was dancing up a storm on the dance floor and made friends with a couple of folks in their mid-twenties.  When it was time for us to leave, I went up to get her and both her new friends were like "NOooooooo, we just requested a song for her.  Does she know Rhianna?"  Um, do you remember she is THREE?
And Cole slept...  While Lee & Taryn had a Daddy/Daughter dance.  Lee was in the wedding and since all the dudes were wearing their Navy uniforms, Jay asked Lee to wear his cop uniform.
Congratulations Jay & Meagan!  Here is to hoping you get a great start to your marriage in Virginia Beach!!!  So glad we could make it down to the wedding!

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Wilken!

This weekend we drove down to Harrisburg, IL to attend the wedding of Barry & Amy. We went through some serious boondocks on the way down. And that comes from someone that lives in a town of 2500 people! Where we ended up, Amy's family's property, was gorgeous!
What a beautiful place to get married! All except for the 100 degree heat!!

The new husband & wife!

The bad thing about going to Purdue... It is really difficult to spell out your name with your body. This is Clint struggling with the "R".
Our sweet-ass table! Clint dipping his foot in the pool before wandering off to talk to some jail bait. Kari kept saying "Clint, walk away. I hear the sirens coming!" That pool felt like heaven!

Congratulations Barry & Amy! Enjoy your European cruise!!

Love and Marriage

This weekend Jamie and Garret tie the knot! Then they are off to start a new life down in Nashville, TN together... Which I am uber jealous of. Don't get me wrong, I'm where I want to be for this point in my life, but I sure wish I could have worked in a couple years in Nashville back before having a baby. At least now it gives me even more of a reason to go visit. (And a spare room to stay in. SWEET!)
I met up with Jamie last night for a few beers. She is holding up pretty well and hasn't buckled under the stress of quitting her job, getting married and moving out of state. Things are set for an awesome weekend! As Lee and I approach our 4 year anniversary, I can definitely tell her that in 4 years, no matter what, her wedding will just be a great memory. You won't remember the little things that didn't go quite right. Or if you do remember, it is just 'cause it is a good story!
In other news, if anyone has an embarrassing story about Jamie that they would like to have worked into the maid-of-honor speech, just send it my way. (JUST JOKING JAMIE!)

Mr. & Mrs. Weida

Last weekend we went to the wedding of James & Jen. It was a lovely (and quick) ceremony and a fun reception. We got to see some friends that we haven't seen in quite awhile, good food, good drinks & good music = a good time!
Of course, most of my pictures were of a certain someone. I can't imagine who that might be!
This was Taryn's first wedding and she loved it. She liked all the people... She liked the little boy in the pew in front of us. She was pretty sure when everyone clapped at the end they were cheering for her.
And, being a super considerate baby, Taryn got in her pj's at the reception and went right to sleep. She stayed asleep while we put her in the reclined highchair so mommy & daddy could stay and mingle for a couple more hours. In this pic our friend Chad was showing his son what he should be doing.

Congratulations to the Deusterhaus-Plothow's!

As most of you know, Matt & Stacia tied the knot this weekend in the Bahamas! From the pictures, it looks like it was an awesome ceremony! We wish we could have been there! We are looking forward to celebrating the nuptuals with you on New Years Eve! Congratulations and I hope you enjoyed the honeymooooooon!

Congratulations Jamie & Garret!

GET A ROOM!

Jamie & Garret got engaged last month! (I know, I haven't been keeping up on my blogging!)

Garret did a great job planning the proposal. They were on vacation in his home state of Maine. The plan was to go to the top of some mountain and watch the sun rise and then he would propose. Unfortunately, they stayed out late drinking the night before, so they were drowsy. Then Jamie got carsick on the way up the mountain. And it was so foggy they couldn't tell when the sun rose! Makes for a great story for the kids someday.

The wedding is set for August 14th, 2010. Jamie is doing a great job planning so far. They already have a church, the reception venue and a dress! I can't wait to be Jamie's maid of honor! (I refuse to be called matron of honor... I don't like that word. Matron.) I have a year to plan my speech, and I'm still working to narrow down the 16 years of Jamie stories I have... I asked Garret if I could use PowerPoint. I'm such a nerd.

I couldn't have picked a better guy for Jamie. Garret is a great guy and he was a math major to top it off. Seriously though, I know they'll be great together! Congrats guys!

And, since Garret has been wanting to see this... Here is Jamie's speech from our wedding.

Congratulations Jon & Jessica Camp!

Last weekend, Lee & I made the trek over to Elk Grove Village to watch Jon Camp marry his girlfriend (fiance) Jessica.
(Did you know that Elk Grove Village has real live Elk there? I have to admit, when I first saw them, I thought they were Carribou. Then I put 2 & 2 together... OH, ELK GROVE VILLAGE... ELK... I'm slow.)
Somehow I didn't get a good picture of Jon & Jessica together, so here is a pic of Jon & the boys.
And here is a pic of Jessica (w/ Jon in the background & Monica). The meal was good, the bar was open (top shelf, sweet) and the bride & groom were a little toasted before the reception started (Jon was carrying around a bottle of vodka). It was great to see quite a few ex-co-workers, especially Neema, Jake, Brandon W & Brandon S.
I couldn't get a real good pic of the dj's, but they were a sight to see. They had choreographed dances to most the songs and often times a costume to go with it. It was slightly entertaining, slightly annoying, but 100% I-can't-stop-watching-it's-like-a-car-wreck... At one point they played the song "Play that funky music white boy" while wearing huge afro wigs and disco clothing. Wow.

Mr. & Mrs. Phelan!!

Sean & Ali had a beautiful wedding in South Haven, MI this weekend. And of course, it was a fun crew to celebrate the occasion with! Here are some pics!

Introducing Mr. & Mrs. Phelan!
I was nice and shared my date with Ploth. Our table nearly went up in flames when our number went up in flames! Before I even knew what was happening, Lee threw it on the ground and stomped it out (and managed to dodge catching my hair on fire). Here is a pic w/ the firestarter!
Cornhole in honor of the Neyer's who could not be at the wedding. Everytime someone made it, Ali & Sean would kiss. We had them making out there for awhile! We took some sunset pics.
Ploth eating the sun. They don't call him Jabba for nothing!
The Reuts!
The ladies!
Congratulations Sean & Ali! I wish you a lifetime of happiness!
