In case you've been wondering

Matt & Brooke from Farmer Wants a Wife are still together according to this interview with them.

Some other highlights in case you don't want to read the interview:

* Matt's area got hit pretty hard by the floods. (Do you think Josie had anything to do with that? She was planning to flood the place to collect insurance...)

* Brooke is planning to move out to Missourri in the next couple months.

* No wedding is planned as of yet, but they're definitely optimistic.

Farmer Wants a Wife ~ I am SHOCKED!

I never really mentioned last week's episode, so I guess I should start there. There were 4 girls left: Kanisha, Amanda, Christa, and Brooke. I was pretty sure that it would be Kanisha going home that week. Then, in the elimination, he sent Kanisha AND Amanda home. What? I thought Amanda could end up being the winner! I was shocked! So, this left Brooke & Christa. The two girls that have hated each other the most this whole season.

So, this week... First Matt sends them to do a ton of errands for him. Christa ends up getting home first and hanging out with Matt for awhile. Brooke got stuck waiting for a train and got there late. Both the girls got all of their errands run though. The funniest part of this was when Christa was at the store, she was asking if they had any condoms. It was pretty funny. The storekeeper just looked shocked. How are there no condoms in that entire town? What do the teenagers do? Just get pregnant? Probably.

Next Matt took Christa & Brooke on separate dates. Brooke went first. Matt took her 4-wheeling and then had a picnic. It looked pretty fun! Then he picked up Christa in a horse drawn carriage and they went back to his house. Brooke was devastated because CLEARLY Christa got the super romantic date and she got 4-wheeling. Matt & Christa are talking about how much they like each other, etc. I'm skeptical though. I've watched enough reality tv to know when I'm being set up. But, at the same time I'm like "Surely he's not going to pick Brooke..." In the end... HE PICKED BROOKE. I can see Brooke fitting in a lot better around there, but she just seemed annoying to me.

But, GOOD LUCK to Matt & Brooke! I really want to hear an update on whether these two are still together!

Farmer Wants a Wife ~ 1/2 way there!

We are now down to 5 girls left on Farmer Wants a Wife, or FWAW as I have shortened it to. We are left with:

Amanda: She is my favorite, and I think Matt's favorite too. She's a Chicago girl, she's fun and she likes to drink. She's only 21, though...
Ashley: Ashley is ok. She is kind of sarcastic a lot of the time. Around Matt, she was mostly quiet, but then during a drunken game of Kings, she asked him if he'd like to f***. Who hasn't done that? Ashley is a Chicago girl too, and is the oldest in the house. The other girls call her "mom". And she's 27... Ouch.
Brooke: She started out as one of my favorites, but has quickly dropped. She is an ultra-Christian virgin who dances like a stripper. It's quite an anomaly. She is pretty immature too. Along with Lisa (who is gone now, yay!), they even stalked Matt by finding his address on a magazine that he left at the house. They went to his house in the middle of the night. CREEPY! I have a feeling she will be the next to go unless she's "sittin' pretty" (basically, immunity).
Christa: I like Christa, but sometimes I think she is a little mean to some of the other girls. She has her clique and isn't afraid of showing it. (The clique, by the way, is her, Amanda & Ashley.) Her favorite pasttimes seem to be getting drunk and talking bad about the other girls.
Kanisha: I like Kanisha too, but sometimes she says some ditzy stuff. She always works really hard, though, and I think she really likes Matt. On last night's episode, they tried to dare her to give Matt a hickey on their date. She didn't do it, but it sure would have been interesting!

For the most part, I will be happy with anyone but Brooke ending up with Matt. But, Amanda is still my favorite!

I'm boring!

So, I haven't been blogging that much lately. You probably didn't even notice, but that's ok. I'm not quite to Blog-a-Mania levels yet. (March 24th Bryan???? Really???) My main reasons for lack of blogging have been: mowing, total dullness last weekend, my tv shows all ending. So, here's some random thoughts:

* CONGRATULATIONS TO JAMIE! She got a job offer from our hometown newspaper, the Journal & Courier, as a photo-journalist! While Jamie isn't quite as thrilled as I am about living in Indiana, I am hoping that she learns to love it! It will be SO good to have hear nearby after her stints in Tennessee, Korea, and Ohio. (Oh, and my year in Virginia.)

* I was reading about Vice Prez possibilities for Obama. I was fully expecting to not recognize a single name (I'm not CFunk). I was surprised to see Evan Bayh on the list. That would be a major mid-western ticket right there! Obama from Chicago and Bayh from Indiana... Sweet.

* This weekend, Lee and I decided to meet halfway between DeMotte & Norfolk. This ends up being on the very western edge of West Virginia. We are staying in a cabin and going whitewater rafting. It should be a fun time (minus the driving). Lee will also be home for 5 whole days next week. I'm letting the grass grow just for him...

* Next week will be a busy week. I am attending a case race on Monday (Team PBGC, Deloitte's pension drinking team, is defending their title. Oh, and PBGC stands for Pension Beer Guzzling Crew!). Then, Wednesday I fly to Pittsburgh for a BIG client meeting. Thursday, I fly back into O'Hare 30 minutes before Lee is set to arrive!

* I finally got a new camera! (Ahow, I almost wrote phone. I still get confused!) It would cost $107 + shipping to fix my old one, so I just went ahead and got a new one at COSTCO. It is weird how 5 years ago I bought a camera that had like 4 mega-pixels and I paid $350 for it and now I can get a 8 mega-pixel camera for $160.

* Farmer Wants a Wife is on tonight. I missed the 2nd half of last week's episode because of a stupid baseball game or something. I'm going to see if I can watch it online before tonight's new episode. Reuter watched FWAW and was not a big fan. He thought that Matt was an idiot. I don't think that Matt is an idiot... He has a college degree, so he isn't uneducated. Plus, it said that they farm 2,000 acres. I am guessing that they don't own all the land that they farm, but probably a good chunk of it. I'm not sure how much farm land goes for out in Missourri, but here in Indiana it goes for about $5k/acre which would make 2,000 acres... Get the calculator... $10 million. Plus, he's got killer abs and he looks good riding on a tractor with no shirt on! My favorite on the show is Amanda from Chicago!! I think she looks a little like Summer from the OC. She is fun and not one of the weird religious virgins.

* Apparently some people don't agree, but I am with Stacia, the Bachelorette is addictive! And I totally agree with her assessment of creepy Ron & Jeremy. The best was at the end when Ron kept going "DeAnna didn't reject me. She just chose other guys. She didn't reject me. I haven't been rejected." Yeah, keep telling yourself that weirdo! My favorites are Jason, the single dad, Brian, the football coach from TX, Graham and Jesse. Although, I'm not attracted to Jesse, I think he is a good, funny guy. I'm just not into long hair. Is it just me or does Robert the chef remind anyone else of Brian Jones?

Ok, that is enough rambling. I better get back to checking data.

Farmer Wants a Wife - the 2nd episode

The show starts out:

Lisa & Brooke are doing Bible study. Christa points out that the "ultra Christians" were the ones pulling pranks. Interesting.
The girls decide to make breakfast for Matt. While they were cooking, he was taking notice of who was talking and who was working. They started talking about what he would want his wife to do. He mentioned cooking & cleaning. Ok, maybe he's not my perfect guy.

They head off to clean some pigs for a neighbor. I forgot to mention in the last blog, when they go places, they are all in big pickup trucks. Sweet! Josie asked if they had to wear a shirt. Ugh. She better! Everyone is doing a good job cleaning the pigs except Lisa & Josie. Shocking.

When they come home, they decide to shower outside. Kanisha offers to wash Matt's back. Matt was like "Um, my back is pretty clean, actually." So awkward!

Speaking of awkward, Josie next asks Matt if he is the type of guy that wants to "test drive" a girl before he marries her. Everyone is shocked, but kind of interested in the answer. Especially since 2 of the girls are virg-o's. Commercial break during the awkward silence. Oh Josie!

Matt says he would like to wait until marriage.

The girls are outside sunbathing and Josie comes out with about 99% of her boobs hanging out of her bathing suit. I hope that Fubar is watching!

Oh, it's challenge time. This week the challenge is milking goats. Matt's looking pretty cute in some overalls, by the way. I didn't think that cute & overalls went together unless you were talking about babies or Carharts. Somehow he is working the denim overall look.

The challenge is actually milking a goat, spray painting a cow, then shoveling out a dirty stall. Josie calls Matt a SOB for making them work.

Watching the girls try and get the goats up on the milking table is pretty comical. Actually, the cow painting is pretty funny too. It comes down to Lisa & Krista. Krista shoveled the $hit the fastest and won. So, she'll be sticking around another week.

The girls are sitting around chatting. Lisa & Brooke are like "Oh, what if Matt's a virgin. Can you girls handle that?" Christa (not the one who won the challenge, the one from NYC that I like) had what might be the line of the night. She is talking about Lisa being a hypocrite because she is always talking about being a virgin yet "...every skirt that she owns almost shows her vagina." They then zoom in on her skirt... Almost showing her vagina.

Matt takes them on a group date as a reward for all their hard work. They go to play BINGO at the V.F.W. Josie sits down and says "If you aren't a republican and you don't love Bush, I can't sit with you." Then she starts asking some of the other women there how to tell which farmers are the wealthy ones.

Matt takes a break from the BINGO to let the girls get up and introduce themselves to the rest of the people there. Lisa goes into a super religious rant about death. What? This girl is weird. Josie gets up and starts out saying that she enjoys being around all the elderly people. She then goes on a tangent about the Jews, Christians & Catholics needing to form an alliance together because the world is going to end. This girl is a nut.

Matt sends the girls into the other room and asks the people in the room what they thought of the girls. The first woman said to send Lisa (ultra Christian w/ vagina skirts) home. One old guy said he wouldn't send any of them home in a dirty old man kind of way. The next couple people say Josie. No surprise there. The next girl said Lisa & Josie. I see a theme here.

They put together a special BINGO game just for the ladies. Whoever doesn't get BINGO is the one that is eliminated.... I'm so nervous.

Lisa gets BINGO and that leaves Josie. Adios Josie! Josie goes off on a tangent and demands a parting gift. She calls Matt cheap for picking flowers instead of buying flowers and asks him what he has to offer a girl besides hard work.

Time for the "alone time" date part. Matt picks Stacey. Brooke is super jealous again.

Josie is still asking for a parting gift. She has ruined two pairs of shoes and a watch since she has been here. She is refusing to leave. Her arse is parked on the front porch and she said she will not leave until Matt gives her a gift. She says they better call the cops and have them drag her off.

Now Josie is on the phone with Matt demanding a gift. She is crazy.

Stacey gets all fancied up for the date. She's showin' some major boobage. Where are they off to this time?

The girls that are left home decide to get decked out and go to a bar. And the lame non-drinkers are driving. Haha! Nice call!

Stacey & Matt's date is sitting in the back of a truck and watching a movie on the side of a barn. Matt had the projector and popcorn and flowers and candles. It was actually pretty cool.

The other girls are at the bar and Lisa & Brooke are hitting on all the old farm dudes. The girls are realizing that those two just need attention. Must be a virgin thing.

Back to the date. Stacey asks Matt if it's a problem that she ISN'T a virgin. I hope not or else he's stuck with Lisa or Brooke. Then Stacey blabs on & on & on about her exes, how nurturing she is, money, clothes, sweatpants, etc. Matt gets a little stressed out by her constant chatter.

Back at the bar, Stacey & Lisa are still hitting on lots of random guys.

And that's where the show ends...

I'm so hooked on this show. Haha! I sure hope they have enough ratings to keep it going. I don't need another "Reunion" on my hands. Although, I don't think they're spending much making this show, so I think I'll be alright.

Don't forget, the 2nd week of Farmer Wants a Wife TONIGHT!!!

Farmer Wants a Wife

Tonight is the series premier of Farmer Wants a Wife. I'm so excited. I decided to attempt the running diary of the show. We'll see how it goes...

8:00pm - Show starts. They introduce the Farmer. He's on a John Deere with jeans and no shirt on. I'm sold. Kathryn may be the 26th bachelorette, but they've found my niche here. And strangely, the farmer's name is also Matt. "He's good looking, college educated, and has over 2,000 acres of land." My friend Jamie's sold now too. She likes guys with land. Matt is from Portage Des Sioux, a town with a population of 351. Wow. That's small. That's like 1/10th the size of DeMotte. They then flash to the city. The first one they show is Chicago. The girls are interviewed talking about how shady guys are and how sick they are of "city relationships". One said she thought farmers have good values. So, there are going to be 10 girls coming out to the farm...

8:02pm - Commercial break...

8:04pm - Matt introduces himself. Portage Des Sioux is apparently in Missouri. But he says it Miz-ur-uh. He said what's hard about finding a wife out there is that everyone either marries their high school sweetheart (what's wrong with that?) or heads for the city.

8:05pm - They show more of Chicago. I see the Merch! Introduce Stephanie, a 23 year old salon receptionist from LA. She's sick of being "arm candy".

8:06pm - Next up is Ashley. She is 27 years old and is a sales manager with a hotel in Chicago. Her career is her life, but she's not getting any younger. Lisa is a 21 year old Christian girl looking for a guy with some morals. I bet she's the first one to take her top off. She also lives in LA. Ah, I retract the top off prediction. She's a virgin. I didn't think they had those in LA. Now we meet Josie. She is a 24 year old math teacher from Laguna Niguel, CA (apparently this is also LA). She keeps talking about being a republican. Boy, do I have the guy for her... She just said that she would love to be a farmer's wife so she could ride horses and go to polo matches. Um, polo matches? She then said that farmer's wives don't work because she has people working for her. What farms has this girl seen?

8:07pm - Brooke is a 22 year old nanny from Dallas. She says she really wants kids. So far, I think she is probably the most realistic match for Matt on the show. Krista is a 23 year old accountant from Orlando, FL. Her dad grew up on a farm and she's looking for a guy with values like that. Why is everyone think all farmers have good morals?

8:08pm - We now meet Amanda, a 21 year old college student, also from Chicago. 21 year olds don't want to get married! We have another Christa, spelled differently this time. She is a 21 year old cocktail waittress from New York. People from NY think they're so cool. She said she is a partier who stays out until 6, 7, 8am. She must be doing coke. I know the signs. She had a guy dump her over text message.

8:09pm - We see Stacey getting dropped off by daddy. Clearly super high maintenance. She is 24 from Delray Beach, FL. She has to get a mani/pedi every week and then goes on to list all her favorite brands... I zoned out after "Prada, Gucci..." Oh, and she is a public relations agent. Kanisha is the token black chick. Just kidding. She is 24 and a leasing agent from Ontario. I wonder if she really does realize she might be the only black person in Portage Des Sioux...

8:10pm - They get out of the planes and see field. Stephanie says "This really is the country." Um, yeah, he isn't farming in a city!

8:11pm - Their ride shows up. It's a school bus. Just like my neighbors drive... All three of them... The girls are put out that they have to ride in a school bus.

8:13pm - The girls are on the farm, Matt is out in the fields. They stand around waiting for him and he comes around on the tractor with his shirt off. They all start squeling. Josie unzips her shirt to show more cleavage.

8:18pm - Matt shows up on the tractor. One girl yells out "I think your tractor's sexy." At least someone knows some country music. Must be the girl from Dallas.

8:20pm - We meet Matt's mom who reveals that SHE is (was) a city girl. But, then she fell in love with a farmer.

8:22pm - Josie is obnoxious. She is the least attractive girl there, but she thinks she the hottest. The house is pretty nice, and Josie said she would flood the place, collect insurance and remodel. Um, how do you fake a flood? She asked Matt's mom if there was going to be a maid. And then she asked if the toilets flush normally.

8:23pm - Stephanie is scared of the chickens. She thinks they're going to peck her eyes out. Then she's scared of the cows.

8:24pm - Stephanie steps in cow poop.

8:26pm - Josie says that money is more important than love and that she would like Matt more if he was better off. I still don't know how she made it on this show, she is not attractive. She talks about some dude she dated that ONLY made $60k and she couldn't take it.

Josie... Not attractive.

8:27pm - Commercial break. So far my favorite girls are Brooke & Amanda. I also like Kanisha, and (surprisingly) the girl from New York, Christa.

8:29pm - The rooster crows at 4:57am.

8:30pm - Lisa, Brooke & Stephanie are talking. Lisa is saying that the Bible like the playbook for life and your pastor is like the coach. Turns out that Brooke is a virgin as well. Stephanie just sits there looking confused and appalled.

8:32pm - There is the first "challenge". It involves chickens. That's not good for Stephanie. Whoever coops the most chickens won't go home. Matt seems pretty sweet. I'm a pretty big fan.

8:35pm - Stephanie actually gets a chicken. Josie gets NO chickens because she thinks it is too working class. She just stands there with her fat gut hanging out. Kanisha & Krista tie with 10 chickens, so they have to have a coop-off. DOH, a commercial break!

8:42pm - Kanisha wins the challenge! Matt tells her she's walkin' in tall cotton. Now I have that song in my head...

8:44pm - They go on a hay ride and talk about what they do and why they want a farmer.

8:45pm - Matt says he doesn't where underwear.

8:47pm - Josie & Kanisha have words out on the front porch. Josie tells her "This isn't the ghetto." Whoa. Oh no she didn't!

8:50pm - The girls all decide to wear black because one of them is getting sent home. The girls tell Josie that they don't like her and she is full of herself.

8:51pm - They go to the barn for elimination. PLEASE send Josie home. Each of them has a chicken with their name on the coop. If there is an egg under their chicken, they are staying. If there is no egg, they are being sent home.

8:52pm - Josie finds an egg. You have got to be freaking kidding me. Matt, COME ON! Kanisha has pretty much the same response. Stephanie is sent back to the city. I still think she is better than Josie even though she didn't hack it on the farm.

Adios Stephanie!

8:54pm - There is a date for one of the girls that night. Matt gets to choose and he picks Christa (NYC girl). Brooke is ticked.

8:55pm - The date is in the yard. It's basically a swing and some food and drinks. But, Christa likes it. He makes her a mint julep.

8:57pm - While they are on the date, some of the other girls TP his car. It was Brooke, Amanda, and I think Lisa... Anyway, they screw up the end of Christa's date, so she is kind of annoyed. Mostly just with Brooke because Brooke is like totally head over heels over Matt.

Can't wait for next week!!
