I have been ranting to people about this all week. Lee & Jamie have gotten it via email, and my mom got to hear it over the phone. Now you all get to read it on my blog. That same girl is starting to push even harder for family-friendly reunion stuff.
Here is her actual post:
I think we should make 2 days out of it... Different activities during the day (cookout, golf, picnic, tour of West Side, etc.), and one night can be a night without kids (Harry's or whatever), while the other evening can be a family friendly Rat Trap!
1) A tour of the high school. (Um, I remember what it looks like, thanks!)
2) A FAMILY FRIENDLY RAT TRAP. (First off, since none of my readers went to my high school, a Rat Trap is a dance that we used to have after the home football games.) Is she serious? Rat Traps in high school weren't exactly family friendly. Half of us were hammered (guess which half I was part of) and there was usually a lot of grinding. I can't imagine it being fun at all if you took away the booze & raging hormones and added children. Sounds like a lame wedding in a dry county.
3) Making two nights of it also sounds like overkill. Most people probably won't get in until late on Friday and will leave sometime on Sunday. Not to mention, I am guessing a full day with our classmates will be enough.
I just can't get over it. I wrote her back and was like "
Plus, as I said before, leave your kids with your parents and let loose. Geez. I'm starting to wonder if they cut the embilical cord after she had her baby!

45 minutes of my 10 year reunion was more than enough, I can't imagine 2 days of it. Ugh.
I hope you learned a lesson. Never volunteer. Do what I did- just don't go. The people I wanted to keep in touch with after High School I did. The others I could care less about. Of course my class was a little bigger- 565 or something like that. We have had one reunion a 15 year I think. Next year will be my 20th. YIKES!
