Happy Turkey Day!

ENJOY!

Top 6 GOOD things about being preggers

As I head into a long weekend of being the designated driver at loads of Thanksgiving events, I thought I better go through the GOOD things about being pregnant. Just a little morale booster! So, here is my top 6:

6. Since getting pregnant, Reuter no longer smacks my ass as hard as he possibly can. This means no more handprints on my rump!

5. No litterbox duties. Pregnant women aren't supposed to be around cat poo. So, Lee has the complete litterbox duties for the next 6 months. Awesome!

4. My long fingernails! I normally have super brittle fingernails that never grow. But now, they are growing longer than they EVER have before! It is awesome!

3. Weight gain is ok? A few weeks ago, I went to the doctor and she said I had gained two lbs. Then she said "I would have liked to have seen you gain a little more." SWEET! I feel like I've been eating constantly, so this is pretty awesome.

2. Maternity pants. I haven't had to start wearing maternity clothes yet, but I have bought a few pairs for that day I wake up and none of my pants fit! After trying these on, I am wondering: Why haven't I been wearing these ALWAYS? They are awesome. Elastic waistbands are awesome. So stretchy, but they look like real pants. It's like business casual sweat pants!

1. Of course, knowing that in 6 months we'll have a baby! Had to add one sappy one here at the end to let you know I haven't forgotten the #1 reason we're doing all of this!

Amy C.-ya!
(Get it? Her name is Amy C...)

We all saw this coming. Well, everyone except Amy.

Three weeks ago, Amy was the deciding vote to send home Brady, aka the Devil Vicky's husband. The following week, Amy tried to make up to Vicky by sending Coleen home and saving Vicky from elimination. Amy, like a moron, thought that everything between them was hunky dory. Do you not realize who you are talking about? Vicky is the most spiteful, evil, conniving person in Biggest Loser history. And Amy may go down in history as the most naive.

Amy got a little bit of an eye-opener in the football challenge to win a trip to Hawaii for the NFL Pro Bowl. As soon as the blue team took out the black team members, they started to take out Amy. Amy was like "I don't think there are any alliances within the blue team..." Wake up and smell the fat person sweat, Amy. You are bottom of the barrel on the blue team. You really think that Heba, Ed & Vicky aren't in an alliance?

At the end of the episode, the deciding vote came down to Vicky. If Vicky really cared about the game & the money as much as she claims, she would have voted Heba out in a heartbeat.
1. Heba has TONS more weight to lose. She is a freaking amazon woman!
2. Heba also has her husband there as a built-in ally. You aren't going to break that alliance.
3. Amy C was getting pretty small. She didn't have much more weight to lose. She is not a threat.

So, in the end, Vicky chose spite over gameplay and sent Amy packing.

And Amy has no one to blame but herself. If she had taken out Vicky when she had the chance:
1. Coleen would still be around. She's nice.
2. Vicky and her annoying forehead would be gone.
3. Heba could have been voted out this week so the blue team would just be Ed & Amy.
4. Did I mention Vicky would be gone???
5. Pretty much heaven.

More evidence that Vicky is the devil. She purposely slacked off on her first go at the football challenge because she had a feeling that they would be doing it twice and it would be about IMPROVING your time. Seriously. She is a game-player. And as we heard about 3,000 times last night, she LOVES football.

Bring on the tile!

Friday night Lee & I went to Lowe's to buy the tile for our bathroom. We are planning to tile the entire shower and the floor, so it was a lot of tile to buy! The floor came out to only 30 sq ft. But, the shower came to 80 sq ft!!! Craziness.

We spent about an hour & a half at Lowe's saying "Will this go with our dark brown trim?" "Will this go with our white shower/toilet/sink?" Holding up white stuff next to the tile, etc. We found one tile pattern that was on clearance that would go perfectly, but alas, they were out of it. What a tease.

We finally decided on the tile above. It has some white and some tan in it. And it isn't too dark for such a small space. It also came in a few different sizes, so that was nice. We are doing 13"x13" tiles on the floor, 8"x10" tiles in the shower with an accent of 2"x2" tiles.

We also found a heater vent for the bathroom and a new sink faucet and we were out of there for $360. I can't complain too much since this is the first real dent that the bathroom remodel has made in our bank account. And, aside from paint, wall accessories and a shelf/cabinet of some kind, we're done with buying stuff!

I can't wait to have a tiled bathroom! Yay!

Put another P on the ol' Oaken Bucket!

The Oaken Bucket game was an Oaken Blowout this year!
Lee and I went down to Lafayette to tailgate for the game. We had offers of tickets to go inside, but it was pretty cold, and I liked having the option of going into a house to warm up!
At the beginning of the day, a kid at the tailgate predicted a Purdue win 55 to nothing. We all laughed... And then the game started and it looked like a distinct possibility!

The Boilers ended up destroying the Hoosiers 62 to 10. Ouch! But, what a great way for Joe Tiller to end his Purdue/IU rivalry.
Lee and I hit two different tailgates. I tore up the beer pong table. Don't worry, I was drinking root beer. (Although I kept saying it was Guinness.) It turns out I'm a better beer pong player sober. I never would have known that before... My reflexes were much better than when I am usually playing! The 2nd game that we played, someone filled up the cups with all normal beer, so my partner Andrew stepped up and drank for both of us. It kind of balanced things out. One sober teammate and one really drunk one!
It was a fun day, but chilly!
Then on Sunday, yummy Thanksgiving at the Plothow residence. Mmmmm. I'm so ready for two more Thanksgivings!

Ok, I got my answer. THIS is how skinny you're supposed to be. I showed Lee this picture and he goes "My leg is bigger than that." Yup...

Thursday, November 20, 2008

I totally hate these ads that have been all over MySpace & Facebook lately. Like we need more people telling young girls that they are too fat. I mean, look at that picture. She can pinch a millimeter of fat. Actually, that probably isn't even fat, it is just skin. If that's what it takes to be overweight, then I guess you have to be a decomposed skeleton to be skinny. Sexy.

Busy busy!

We had a really busy weekend last weekend and we have another one on the horizon!

Last weekend:
Friday - Ahow & Marlene stayed with us on their way up to Chicago. We did dinner and then us prego ladies fell asleep on the couch while the boys watched tv. Thanks again for dinner guys! And the beer for Lee!

Saturday - I went to shower #2 for my sis-in-law Sonia. It was a small deal this time with awesome pastries. YUM! Afterwards, we went in to Lafayette and my mom & I shopped while Lee napped on my mom's new couch. I bought some maternity pants for the day I pop and nothing fits anymore. Trying on those pants, I began to question my entire wardrobe. Why in the world have I not been wearing an elastic waistband all this time? It it truly a glorious thing. After shopping, we went and got my favorite pizza in the world at Arni's in Lafayette. Then we met up with Zach & hung out with his girlfriend, sister & brother-in-law.

Sunday - we went to Lee's parents' house to hang out and celebrate Lee's mom's birthday. I took a couple naps while watching football. It was pretty glorious.

On the agenda for the upcoming weekend: the Purdue/IU game and T-giving in Chicago!

Biggest Loser - Spoiler alert!

Dear Biggest Loser Contestants (Specifically Amy C.),

Way to go, you pissed it down your leg. You had the chance to take down the devil and you didn't do it. Now we all have to suffer.

Sincerely,
President of the I-Hate-Vicky Club

Lauren's Latest & Greatest Country

And the winner is............

Country Boy by Alan Jackson.

I have to say, Alan Jackson has been tearing it up lately. I have been really liking his new stuff.

I'm a country boy,
I've got a 4 wheel drive
Pile in my bed,
I can take ya for a ride
Up city streets, down country roads
I can get ya where you need to go
Cause I'm a country boy

Although, my favorite line is this one:
Bucket seats, soft as baby's new butt
Lockin' hubs, that'll take ya through a deep rut

It takes talent to fit a baby's butt comparison in a song, but AJ does it flawlessly!

Actuaries. What are they good for?

Making $80k a year!

In a CNN article, actuary was listed as the first job that you can make $80k a year at.

1. Associate actuary
What they do: Most often employed by insurance agencies, actuaries use data to calculate the likelihood and expense of an event, such as death or illness, and help formulate an insurance policy based on their findings.

Annual mean income: $81,924*
Projected employment in 2016: 22,000**
Increase between 2006 and 2016: 24 percent

Why do they always focus on the insurance side of things? Boring! (Sorry Ahow.)

Others on the list included:
2. Attorney
3. Compensation and benefits manager
4. Economist
5. Floor broker
6. Marketing manager
7. Petroleum engineer
8. Pharmacist
9. Risk management supervisor
10. Veterinarian

Don't let the door hit ya in the a$$...

ADIOS BRADY!
I don't really hate Brady that much. But, in case you missed my last Biggest Loser post... I. HATE. HIS. WIFE. VICKY. She is the worst person to ever be on the Biggest Loser campus. And Brady is totally her little pawn. She is evil. Please refer to my old post for more ranting about Vicky.
Anyway, I am really pulling for the black team. It was looking bad for them when the show went to singles with 4 blue team members and 3 black team members.
Then they announced that one eliminated player would be coming back. I was really hoping for someone that would be on the side of the black team. It was their only hope! But, alas, worst case scenario happened and Heba's husband slobbered and sputtered his way back into the house. If you're counting, that makes FIVE blue team members vs. 3 black team members. DOH!
So, the only real hope was for no black team members to fall under the yellow line. I was so pulling for either Heba & Vicky to fall under together. Or Brady & Vicky. Good news, Brady DID fall under the yellow line. But unfortunately, so did Michelle. Brady lost the smallest amount, so I started praying for a tie, which would send him home.
Vicky looked like her normal cocky b!tch self at the elimination. She was sure Brady wasn't going home. But, alas, Amy actually thought things through and realized that being the 5th wheel on a team with two couples was probably not going to get her too far. So, she flipped and voted for Brady SENDING HIM HOME!
I thought that Vicky might explode and murder her right then. But, she didn't. However, the scenes from next week look like she goes pretty crazy. I hope she is so crazy and annoying that they vote her off next week just to get her out of their hair.
What goes around comes around Vicky. You sent home Phil's wife, now your husband is getting sent home. It's called poetic justice... Oh, and FU!

Delicious!

I have been eating the Planters Daybreak Blend, Berry Almond Trail Mix. And it. is. awesome. It has granola clusters, cranberries, raisins & almonds. It seems like there is some other stuff in there too... Anyway, I highly recommend it. The only bad thing is, the 5oz bag CLAIMS that it contains 4.5 servings. YEAH RIGHT! That bag contains 2 servings at the most.

Waiting to meet Baby Hooker

This Sunday, I helped host Lee's sister Sonia's baby shower. Sonia is due December 10th with their first baby. Sonia & her husband Wyatt tried to find out the sex of the baby, but the baby didn't want to show the goods that day, so it is going to be a surprise! I think that they are having a girl because boys are usually showing off their stuff! Here is what the tables looked like. There were trees on each one that had pictures of Sonia & Wyatt when they were young. Here is Sonia, 8 months pregnant. She looks really good. She is lucky that she is so tall and has lots of room to store a baby in that long torso!
All the Klemme ladies: Emilee, Christi, Sonia & me.

Our niece Grace & nephew Drew. Drew decided to wear Lee's boots and dress up as a cowboy. It was pretty funny to watch him try and walk around in those huge boots!

Baby K finally makes the blog!

We couldn't let the Reuters & Ahow handle all the procreation around here!

Yes, Lee & I are also expecting. I know this isn't news to most of you. (It is hard to hide a pregnancy when you normally drink a lot!) We actually found out 3 days after Michelle & Reuter shared their news with us! (Talk about good timing!) Like Michelle & Reut, we are definitely planning to find out the sex of the baby. I think the shock of giving birth is going to be enough surprise for me! I can spread the surprise of the gender out a bit! We'll be finding out the sex sometime around Christmas.

We're due May 19th, and here are a few pics of our little bundle of joy to be! So far, the baby seems to be taking after Lee. Every time we have an ultrasound, it is in there lounging. It has had its legs crossed twice and was using the embilical cord as a pillow once. If it had a La-Z-Boy recliner in there, it would look a lot like what's in my living room right now. I don't have a problem with that, though. Lee as a baby/child was pretty much the best sleeper ever, so I will take that quality in a baby anyday!!!
Profile of the babe sucking its thumb.

Little tiny baby feet!

The baby's face & arm waving to us. It's ok if you think it looks alien-ish. Its eyes aren't quite in their final location yet!

Bathroom Update

WE'VE GOT WALLS! And a shower. Pretty amazing, really.

Here is a few weeks ago. Shower bottom is in, but no walls or plumbing.

I am amazed by the whole process. I just don't have the precision or steady hand to even measure & cut a board. Oh, and patience. I don't have much of that either...

Here the plumbing is in the shower and the cement board is in. (This is what the tile goes on.)

Working hard out in the "man garage". My Jeep is keeping an eye on him.

Lee doesn't have class this week which means he also doesn't have homework! Which means lots of bathroom progress!

Here we have the shower ready for tile, the ceiling is done, and most the walls are in. Now we just need a floor!

Oh, and in addition to the bathroom, Lee also has a 3.5 GPA going in school. WAY TO GO LEE! And the rest of his time is spent clearing the 13 trillion leaves that fall into our yard on a daily basis. Seriously, we clean them up and the next day it looks like we don't even know what a rake is! It is insane.

Get out & vote!

Lee and I made it to the American Legion at 6:15am, right after they opened. We still ended up waiting for 45 minutes to vote! It was busy.

And there was this annoying chick that made like 15 phone calls on her cell phone behind us. And all she was talking about was her 12 hour nursing shift, her Facebook account, and some guy in her church being "divisive". Lee leaned over and whispered "I have never heard the word divisive so many times in one day." I said we should have brought some booze and turned it into a drinking game! Drink when she says 'divisive'. Drink when she mentions Facebook. Drink when she mentions her 12-hour shift... It was a huge relief when we finally got through the door and her cell phone signal faded.
Anyway, get out there and vote! Or else no complaining for the next 4 years!
