A trip to the Diner does a body good!

*
I heard this on the radio today... Turns out, bacon cures hangovers!

What a glorious food! And here, I always thought it was the milky deliciousness of the chocolate milkshake I always got at the Diner that made me feel better.

Ms Roberts told The Mirror: "Bingeing on alcohol depletes neurotransmitters too, but bacon contains a high level of aminos which tops these up, giving you a clearer head."

A clearer head? When shouldn't I eat bacon?

Researchers also found a complex chemical interaction in the cooking of bacon produces the winning combination of taste and smell which is almost irresistible.

Tell me something I don't know!!

Imagine the hangover that Fubar's bacon-eggs could cure!

Otis the town drunk - arrested for the 70th time!!

Douglas Smith, aka "Otis the town drunk" just got arrested for the 70th time in Porter County! No shock, most of them have been for public intox. The article said that he has spent half his adult life in the slammer.

Smith told The Times he began drinking when he was about 18. Smith brags that he can drink two cases of beer in a day, or can gulp down six bottles of wine or three fifths of hard liquor. He said he has walked around with a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.45, enough to put most people in a coma.

But, can he drink champagne out of a beer bong?

Who can blame him for this, though:
His last arrest had been on a public intoxication charge on St. Patrick's Day in 2007.

Pension Beer Guzzling Crew does it again!

Tonight was the Deloitte actuarial case race. This was the 2nd annual event.
(The pic below is from last year.) Last year the Health practice couldn't pull together a team, so it was Pension vs. P&C. 5 people, (2 girls), 24 beers. Lots of rules, including a penalty for puking. Last year, the Pension team was winning pretty solidly, then a member of the P&C team tossed their cookies. We coasted across the finish line after that.

This year the rules changed a little. We went up to 6 people, (2 girls), and 30 beers. Deloitte Pension practice only has 2 girls under the age of 35, and one of them, Alli, was on vacation, so they asked me to come back for it. I was a little concerned because Alli & Kurt, two of our best teammates from last time, were on vacation (together, they are dating). Alli & Kurt were replaced by Sameer & Katie. Katie weighs about 90lbs, and Sameer talks more than he drinks. Plus, this year, I am a year older, and much farther from my prime drinking days. And, to top it all off, Health put together a team this time. As I looked around, I saw a lot of faces fresh out of college. And I hoped that my team's "experience" would help us out.

1 minute in... Our plan was to drink one beer while pouring our other 4 beers into cups to speek our drinking up.

4 minutes in... This is a lot of liquid. Gurgle gurgle.

7 minutes into the race, I felt like we were doing pretty good. I looked around and it looked like the other teams had a lot more cups of beer left. But, I didn't want to get comfortable.

10 minutes in... Starting to feel a little gross. I slow down my drinking a little to avoid the pukey penalty. Sameer is not looking too good. Fortunately, our MVP Griffin is picking up the slack and drinking 7 beers on his own.

14 minutes in... Pension team finishes the last drop of beer. VICTORY IS OURS once again!

18 minutes in... P&C and Health have a photo finish for 2nd place. P&C came in 2nd.

Go Team PBGC!

This is the Actuari-owl trophy, which Pension gets to keep until the next case race. We even added Pension on the back of the Owl, like the Oaken Bucket.
