Good news!

As I mentioned, last Friday we gave up our DVR and downsized to basic cable. After having DVR (or TiVo) for about 5 years, I am still adjusting to not having the rewind option. What, I have to pay attention the first time? Plus, the whole having-to-be-home-to-watch-your-shows thing is going to take some time...

BUT, the good news is... We still get basically all the channels we used to. Comcast took our DVR and gave us a Nazi Box (I mean cable box) for the living room. We went to the other tv in the den, and turns out we still had all the channels. So, we just unplugged the Nazi Box, and poof. All the channels. Suck on that Comcast! We no longer have the guide feature, but I'll take all my channels over the guide any old day!

Now hopefully Comcast doesn't have some sort of stalker-mode that can tell that we unplugged the cable box...

Like losing a member of the family...

Dear DVR,

I'm sorry that we have to send you away this Friday. Lee and I are going through some financial changes that require us to make some cuts. And Comcast's introductory rate that was saving us $40/month running out was the nail in the coffin. Lee is giving up ESPN and the History Channel, and I am giving up you, sweet DVR (and HGTV).

Hopefully this will only be temporary and we can invite you back into our home once our salaries are stable again. 17 months at the most. I promise!

Our DVR

We got Comcast cable when we moved in to our house. And OF COURSE, we got a DVR. Well, the DVR that they brought had obviously been used before. And even more obviously, the person that had used it was gay. Seriously, it was FULL of like the Ellen Show and some show called 'Coming Out Stories' and some other interesting titles. Needless to say, those got deleted pretty quick. I can't stand Ellen! And I need all my space for great shows like The Bachelor: London Calling!
