Happy Turkey Day!

ENJOY!

Top 6 GOOD things about being preggers

As I head into a long weekend of being the designated driver at loads of Thanksgiving events, I thought I better go through the GOOD things about being pregnant. Just a little morale booster! So, here is my top 6:

6. Since getting pregnant, Reuter no longer smacks my ass as hard as he possibly can. This means no more handprints on my rump!

5. No litterbox duties. Pregnant women aren't supposed to be around cat poo. So, Lee has the complete litterbox duties for the next 6 months. Awesome!

4. My long fingernails! I normally have super brittle fingernails that never grow. But now, they are growing longer than they EVER have before! It is awesome!

3. Weight gain is ok? A few weeks ago, I went to the doctor and she said I had gained two lbs. Then she said "I would have liked to have seen you gain a little more." SWEET! I feel like I've been eating constantly, so this is pretty awesome.

2. Maternity pants. I haven't had to start wearing maternity clothes yet, but I have bought a few pairs for that day I wake up and none of my pants fit! After trying these on, I am wondering: Why haven't I been wearing these ALWAYS? They are awesome. Elastic waistbands are awesome. So stretchy, but they look like real pants. It's like business casual sweat pants!

1. Of course, knowing that in 6 months we'll have a baby! Had to add one sappy one here at the end to let you know I haven't forgotten the #1 reason we're doing all of this!

Amy C.-ya!
(Get it? Her name is Amy C...)

We all saw this coming. Well, everyone except Amy.

Three weeks ago, Amy was the deciding vote to send home Brady, aka the Devil Vicky's husband. The following week, Amy tried to make up to Vicky by sending Coleen home and saving Vicky from elimination. Amy, like a moron, thought that everything between them was hunky dory. Do you not realize who you are talking about? Vicky is the most spiteful, evil, conniving person in Biggest Loser history. And Amy may go down in history as the most naive.

Amy got a little bit of an eye-opener in the football challenge to win a trip to Hawaii for the NFL Pro Bowl. As soon as the blue team took out the black team members, they started to take out Amy. Amy was like "I don't think there are any alliances within the blue team..." Wake up and smell the fat person sweat, Amy. You are bottom of the barrel on the blue team. You really think that Heba, Ed & Vicky aren't in an alliance?

At the end of the episode, the deciding vote came down to Vicky. If Vicky really cared about the game & the money as much as she claims, she would have voted Heba out in a heartbeat.
1. Heba has TONS more weight to lose. She is a freaking amazon woman!
2. Heba also has her husband there as a built-in ally. You aren't going to break that alliance.
3. Amy C was getting pretty small. She didn't have much more weight to lose. She is not a threat.

So, in the end, Vicky chose spite over gameplay and sent Amy packing.

And Amy has no one to blame but herself. If she had taken out Vicky when she had the chance:
1. Coleen would still be around. She's nice.
2. Vicky and her annoying forehead would be gone.
3. Heba could have been voted out this week so the blue team would just be Ed & Amy.
4. Did I mention Vicky would be gone???
5. Pretty much heaven.

More evidence that Vicky is the devil. She purposely slacked off on her first go at the football challenge because she had a feeling that they would be doing it twice and it would be about IMPROVING your time. Seriously. She is a game-player. And as we heard about 3,000 times last night, she LOVES football.

Bring on the tile!

Friday night Lee & I went to Lowe's to buy the tile for our bathroom. We are planning to tile the entire shower and the floor, so it was a lot of tile to buy! The floor came out to only 30 sq ft. But, the shower came to 80 sq ft!!! Craziness.

We spent about an hour & a half at Lowe's saying "Will this go with our dark brown trim?" "Will this go with our white shower/toilet/sink?" Holding up white stuff next to the tile, etc. We found one tile pattern that was on clearance that would go perfectly, but alas, they were out of it. What a tease.

We finally decided on the tile above. It has some white and some tan in it. And it isn't too dark for such a small space. It also came in a few different sizes, so that was nice. We are doing 13"x13" tiles on the floor, 8"x10" tiles in the shower with an accent of 2"x2" tiles.

We also found a heater vent for the bathroom and a new sink faucet and we were out of there for $360. I can't complain too much since this is the first real dent that the bathroom remodel has made in our bank account. And, aside from paint, wall accessories and a shelf/cabinet of some kind, we're done with buying stuff!

I can't wait to have a tiled bathroom! Yay!

Put another P on the ol' Oaken Bucket!

The Oaken Bucket game was an Oaken Blowout this year!
Lee and I went down to Lafayette to tailgate for the game. We had offers of tickets to go inside, but it was pretty cold, and I liked having the option of going into a house to warm up!
At the beginning of the day, a kid at the tailgate predicted a Purdue win 55 to nothing. We all laughed... And then the game started and it looked like a distinct possibility!

The Boilers ended up destroying the Hoosiers 62 to 10. Ouch! But, what a great way for Joe Tiller to end his Purdue/IU rivalry.
Lee and I hit two different tailgates. I tore up the beer pong table. Don't worry, I was drinking root beer. (Although I kept saying it was Guinness.) It turns out I'm a better beer pong player sober. I never would have known that before... My reflexes were much better than when I am usually playing! The 2nd game that we played, someone filled up the cups with all normal beer, so my partner Andrew stepped up and drank for both of us. It kind of balanced things out. One sober teammate and one really drunk one!
It was a fun day, but chilly!
Then on Sunday, yummy Thanksgiving at the Plothow residence. Mmmmm. I'm so ready for two more Thanksgivings!

Ok, I got my answer. THIS is how skinny you're supposed to be. I showed Lee this picture and he goes "My leg is bigger than that." Yup...

Thursday, November 20, 2008

I totally hate these ads that have been all over MySpace & Facebook lately. Like we need more people telling young girls that they are too fat. I mean, look at that picture. She can pinch a millimeter of fat. Actually, that probably isn't even fat, it is just skin. If that's what it takes to be overweight, then I guess you have to be a decomposed skeleton to be skinny. Sexy.

Busy busy!

We had a really busy weekend last weekend and we have another one on the horizon!

Last weekend:
Friday - Ahow & Marlene stayed with us on their way up to Chicago. We did dinner and then us prego ladies fell asleep on the couch while the boys watched tv. Thanks again for dinner guys! And the beer for Lee!

Saturday - I went to shower #2 for my sis-in-law Sonia. It was a small deal this time with awesome pastries. YUM! Afterwards, we went in to Lafayette and my mom & I shopped while Lee napped on my mom's new couch. I bought some maternity pants for the day I pop and nothing fits anymore. Trying on those pants, I began to question my entire wardrobe. Why in the world have I not been wearing an elastic waistband all this time? It it truly a glorious thing. After shopping, we went and got my favorite pizza in the world at Arni's in Lafayette. Then we met up with Zach & hung out with his girlfriend, sister & brother-in-law.

Sunday - we went to Lee's parents' house to hang out and celebrate Lee's mom's birthday. I took a couple naps while watching football. It was pretty glorious.

On the agenda for the upcoming weekend: the Purdue/IU game and T-giving in Chicago!

Biggest Loser - Spoiler alert!

Dear Biggest Loser Contestants (Specifically Amy C.),

Way to go, you pissed it down your leg. You had the chance to take down the devil and you didn't do it. Now we all have to suffer.

Sincerely,
President of the I-Hate-Vicky Club

Lauren's Latest & Greatest Country

And the winner is............

Country Boy by Alan Jackson.

I have to say, Alan Jackson has been tearing it up lately. I have been really liking his new stuff.

I'm a country boy,
I've got a 4 wheel drive
Pile in my bed,
I can take ya for a ride
Up city streets, down country roads
I can get ya where you need to go
Cause I'm a country boy

Although, my favorite line is this one:
Bucket seats, soft as baby's new butt
Lockin' hubs, that'll take ya through a deep rut

It takes talent to fit a baby's butt comparison in a song, but AJ does it flawlessly!
